Life Adventures Never Stop

Blah Days.

So, I hate being sick! And I'm sick! The worst part is #1-I didn't get to go to Jump On It with the ward. The first activity I think I've missed since I moved here and I really wanted to go. #2-I feel so yucky and I can't really fix it. #3-I'm super tired and I have soooooooo much to do that I can't just go to bed. #4-I'm not as patient with my students and today, I seriously wanted to remove a few of the overly annoying ones. (Especially the birthday girl screaming "it's my birthday, I sang to myself, now where's my pink crown!?!" Really....she was yelling that at me!!)

On another note, the BOGO shoe sale struck again. I dropped off my car at Lube Doc to get it all inspected and emissioned (not a word) and they said to come back by 6. Well, it was only like 4:30! What am I supposed to do....not going to Shopko (Payless) would have been the smart choice! But, I did and I came out of there with 2 new pairs of shoes and some socks. Dang those BOGO prices!! So, all in all.....my car is newly registered, my left blinker light is fixed (apparently it was out) and I have 2 pairs of new shows to drown my sickness sorrows in.

Sundays

I love Sundays, even though it means the weekend is almost over, it also means that I can spend the day relaxing. I realized today that I have been to church in my own ward since March!! That is crazy! I mean, we had General Conference, then I went to a baby blessing in Colorado and then I went to church in Las Vegas (where the kids tripled the amount of adults). So, I'm actually rather excited to get back to my own ward.

Another great thing about Sundays is family dinner. I realized, I hate it when we don't have family dinner. Whether it is with my family or John's family. There's something that just ties Sundays together by having dinner with your family. So, I'm excited for Stephanie's Lasagna tonight! This weekend has been full of business. Pictures, shows and house hunting.....I'm starting to hate that. But, Aaron and Emily are moving back for a month and I do not want to live here with their 5 kids! YIKES!! I love my nieces and nephews, but I already spend all day with 50 little kids, so I'd like to come home to some semi-quietness. :) Yeah.....that's why I like Sundays. Peace and Quiet!

Aha Moments and Borderline Insanity

So, I'm sitting here in class, watching the high school students work with my Kindergarten class and I'm thinking "I'm going to go crazy!" I love my class and I love teaching, but something about the last month of school makes the kids go nuts! It was all I could do to keep my mouth from screaming out loud!

So the project they were working on was a card for our principal and a story about their fieldtrip, something they have done everyday since the first day of school. They know the writing process and they know where to get the words they are looking for, plus they have a whole bunch of high school students and myself helping them. BUT, for the life of me, only 8 were writing without coming up to me every five seconds asking me how to spell words they know! AHHHHH!!! I must just be tired, but they were driving me nuts! I think they were even driving each other nuts. Various little voices throughout the room were saying "Stretch your words! Look on the word wall! It's P-I-G-pig! Go back and reread it!" After hearing all these little voices, I just started laughing. They were using phrases that I had taught them during Writers Workshop the whole year. So, now I'm thinking, they are driving me crazy, but hey, they actually get it. 8 months of repetition and they are repeating it to each other!

That right there, takes the craziness back into perspective. They drive me crazy at times, but they are only 5 and in the end, I know they are learning something and that is what makes my job so worthwhile, even in they are driving me crazy!!

Word Spreads Fast

Did you ever wonder how people find things out so fast? I mean we all know about gossip right, but what if you never said anything to begin with? I found myself in a strange predicament at school today. I had at least 5 people congratulate me on my engagement. WHAT ENGAGEMENT?!?! That's about all I could say in my head. Does it look like I have a ring on my finger? Well, I do, but an engagement ring....no. I have a CTR ring....I'm engaged to righteousness. I mean, seriously, if I were engaged....don't you think I'd tell everyone I know!! HECK YES I WOULD!!! Getting engaged and married is one of the most exciting things in a person's life....trust me....it won't be a secret.

I've decided you should never let anyone know you've thought about or talked about marriage because that automatically makes them think you're getting married. Hypothetically is different than actually doing it. On an actual note, Becky did make me try on wedding dresses on Tuesday and picked out my "hypothetical" wedding dress. lol. I can't believe I consented to that. On another actual note, someone I know put down a deposit today and hypothetically, I'm wondering how long it's going to be. It's all so tentative, that is deserves to be hypothetical! Ahh.....the craziness of life! Gotta love it!

Vegas and Mysteries Revealed

Well, I posted when I got home from Colorado and I figure, I need to post again. I just got home from Vegas (so fun!) and am now counting down the days until summer!! I love my kids, but dang, I'm excited for summer. My family is finally coming home for a visit and I can't wait to see my nieces and nephews! They've gotten so stinking big!!

So, after reading comment and e-mails, I guess I better clarify a little bit. In many pictures, you have all comment on a certain boy, who I went to Colorado and Vegas with. That is John Carter my boyfriend and we've been dating since December. Hypothetically, if anything happens, it won't be a secret. John is pretty dang awesome and we have tons of fun together. For those of you who went to Mountain View....you might know him or his sister Diana Carter. John is pretty spectacular and we make a pretty awesome team.

So, Vegas was a fun trip, less driving than Colorado and more time with John, Sam and Diana. We had a fun time dressing up one night to go out and I got some pretty great pictures of our randomness. If only I could have gotten one of "Key-key 2468." I got to see The Phantom of the Opera at the Venetian, (Amazing!) spend time with John's family, (2 cute nieces) sit in a ginormous rocking chair, (in Beaver) go swimming where the weather was actually warm,(it was not warm in my shorts when I returned Sunday night!) see some awesome celebrities, (wax of course) go to the Vegas Temple, (baptisms, it's been forever!!) watch the Bellagio fountains (beautiful!) and just enjoy being with friends. Although it was very tiring, it was very fun and I wish I didn't have to be back at work yet! I do have to say, John's niece Megan (the best name ever!) was the cutest. She was quite confused at first that there was a "other Megan" coming to visit. One day when Diana and I were asking her about her babies, she just kept saying "Callie and Whitney, they have hair and they have my cabbage patch doll!!!" You had to be there, but every time she'd scream "THEY HAVE MY CABBAGE PATCH DOLL!" Kids are funny, all kids...including my students.

My Kindergarteners are crazy little tikes and I love them to death. As much as they sometimes drive me crazy, they make me laugh so much! I mean, how many times can you explain "I don't have children, because I'm not married." I guess it doesn't make sense, but they ask me that all the time. They also just say "Well, you have a boyfriend, have some kids now." And I have this one little guy....everything I say....he has 5 questions for and then the same response. "That's wonderful Miss Campbell, you're just delicious!" I mean, what 5 year old tells a person they are delicious! haha!! Gotta love it!

Spontaneity Delivers

Ok, so on a random note, I ended up going to Colorado this weekend with John. His niece was getting blessed and he had the weekend off, so we decided to go with Sam and Diana. This proved to be spontaneous enough to John that he now decided I can handle some spontaneity. The trip was pretty dang fun and John's family is hysterical. The picture of the Vail pass was taken really early in the morning and was pretty dang beautiful.

So, a few select highlights. #1-A car with 2 Carters always produces loud singing. #2-It might also produce sounds like a train at noises so loud, you can't even here the train. #3-Canyons close with snow and Rifle Colorado has some weird hotels and houses with hard wood floors. #4-Pineapple might make you have to go to the bathroom if you eat too much. #5-Talking about marriage is apparently the same as actually getting engaged. #6-No Name is actually a rest area that has no name. #7-A 4 year old girl can actually sing vibrato and be scared of vultures. #8-Lack of sleep can produce abnormal behavior. #9-"Hypothetically" can be overused. #10-Newsies can never be sung loud enough. #11-Everyone poops and everyone farts, so just accept it and move on. #12-Spending time with people you enjoy being around.....priceless.

So, needless to say, I had a great time in Colorado and am looking forward to going to Vegas on Wednesday, where needless to say, more exciting and random adventures will ensue with the Carter family!

I Converted!!

I can't believe that I've succumbed to this. I always make fun of people that blog, even though I love reading all my friends blogs. So, after having read my family's blogs and friends blogs, I figured I might as well start one. Although I don't have as much time to blog as everyone else, I'll do my best. I wish they had more font options though, these are super boring!! Well, since I don't have lots of time and I have to get some homework done, this will be my first blog and most likely my shortest....like me. :)
