John and I are setting up our new blog tonight and we both plan on using that together. I'm so excited to finally start a new one where John can make posts and where the background is not so crazy! 2 days after I got this one I hated it, but I really didn't want to have to save and remember what was on it again. haha! It is a pain though. We'll post a link to our new blog when it's up.
On another note, school has started and I am really looking forward to this year. I only have 20 students in my regular session and 16 in my all day and compared to last year, they are angels! I absolutely love them. Anything is better than the "biting-hitting-swearing-running-I'm going to put my head in the toilet and food on my face" child. Ah poor Sam....loved her....just hope I never have another. Especially after I had to go to the Instacare when she bit me!! Also I finally went to the Carter Family favorite Bombay House Friday with John, Sam, Diana and Michael. Despite what I thought (and how hungry I wasn't from the reception) I enjoyed the food. Even more surprising is that I liked it a lot better as leftovers. Yum!! Even though it did make me sickish both times, it tasted good.

Rebuttal??

So John and I were discussing my last post (mostly laughing about it) and thought maybe I should make a rebuttal.....but I don't quite think that is what it is. He thought I needed to clarify that mostly I was being funny about our family ward and that yes, ironically we very much loved the 9th Ward. It is most ironic for me to miss it, since I spent 6 years after high school hating it!! I never wanted to go when I came back home, even though I knew many people and the bishopric. I think that after several years of hating student wards and living in BYU wards, the 9th ward was a nice new refreshing scene.

Thanks for all your comments! I really enjoy reading them and then talking to John and then we laugh a lot. :) Expect our new blog to come soon. John really wants to help out in this action. :)

Single vs Family Wards

We all know there is a difference between family and single wards, some quite obvious, but some not so.
#1-Quiet Sacraments Non Existent
-One baby cries.....they all cry
-An old person coughs, sneezes, etc...they all do
-Dads wave at their kids while passing the sacrament and here come the crying and the one
kid screaming "DADDY!!!" Although funny sometimes....very disruptive
-Sitting by friends is in the past....welcome to sitting by every kid or old person in the ward
#2-Young Couples and Newlyweds
-Scratching and Back rubs still happen....even if a child is sitting between them
-Gazing into each others eyes is never acceptable at church....it's weird.
-Holding hands still good...hold hands over a pregnant belly.....not normal.
#3-Sunday School
-There seems to only be 2 classes offered in a family ward, no newlywed/marriage class
-The Chapel is the worse place to have Sunday school....do you know how big it is?
-Walking around with a microphone for comments.....so annoying! Smaller rooms please!
-Does the old teacher really have to stand that close to the mic? We're not all deaf, but we may well soon be after listening to the screeching of the mic and loud voice.
#4-Bishoprics
-No one really cares if your here or there, because you already made it to marriage
-You have someone else with you, so you don't worry about talking to people/bishoprics
-It takes awhile before they recognize you or know your name in a family ward....are you new to the ward? Why yes, 2 months ago! :)

Now in all seriousness, it is different, but I imagine once we are more settled, we'll really like it here. We are just in 9th Ward withdrawals. When you leave your friends behind, it's not that easy to make new couple friends in a very odd ward mixed up of old people and young couples with at least 1 kid. :)

Aliens and Sofa Beds

In real life, I'm pretty witty and funny. I wonder what happens when my brain turns it over to writing. Maybe it was over taken by aliens and now I need Scully and Mulder to investigate. Probably not, but I did see the new X-Files movie this weekend with John and Wyatt. Word of advice: If you never watched the show and don't care.....you won't love it. If you watched the series like John and his family.....you'll like it more. It was crazy.
Park City was a fun weekend, although very, very tiring. John and I went shopping for a whole day and spent some time with our friend Wyatt. It was fun. On a funnier note, John doesn't sleep so well at night so we decided that we'd pull out the sofa bed. It looked a little funny, some wires were out of place and it was ripped up. Oh well, put some sheets on, some pillows and I laid down. John thought he should sleep on it, so he tried to push me off by jumping on the bed....only to fall through the bottom of the bed. I couldn't stop laughing......guess the wires and torn material really were important.
Lesson to be learned: Don't jump on the bed!!

Wedding Bliss

Ok, so I haven't written in awhile and I haven't posted any pictures, but today is finally that day. All of my pictures are on Picasa, so I'm just going to embed a slide show of them all. John and I will be starting a new blog soon, so be looking for a change in that. I'd rather start fresh, then try and change all of this stuff and remember it. Anyway, we're having fun and marriage is great. There is still so much we have going on and stuff to do, so that makes it busy (plus school and work) so that make it busier.

After spending all our Target, BB&B Gift Cards, Cash and Checks, we successfully have almost everything we need for our house. It's actually starting to be a little bit put together and I know I'll be glad when it is......as will John. All we have to do now is get our fridge fixed and we're good to go. We've spent lots of time assembling furniture and we're only down to a few more things! YAY!! So, with that, I'm off to put together a barstool and finish my homework.

MARRIAGE ROCKS!!!!

Being married is the best thing ever, so far. :) I'm pretty sure it will be awesome and it has already been the best time ever! The wedding day was great and I'm just glad it's over. After all the preparing and getting things done it turned out great. There were only a couple of minor incidents and they were so funny that it made the day better. John and I spent a few days in Midway and it's beautiful up there. We went to Cascade Springs and took some pictures, had some lunch and just enjoyed being together.I love being able to come home with John and stay home. That is definitely my favorite part. John doesn't have to go home every night. The next best thing after opening all our gifts with family was talking about how we get to use them! We get to start setting up our condo and it gets to be ours!! I love it and John is just as excited as I am to get it all organized! YAY!! Married life is great and I couldn't imagine spending it with anyone else besides John.

Bridal Shower

Well, to start off, I added some random pics from the Bridal Shower Steph and Bex threw. You have to try really hard to catch it....but you never do...somehow time always catches you though. Huh.

I wish I had my PC, so I could upload some pics, but alas, no internet at the new home yet and my lappy isn't getting wireless anymore...so the rents will have to do. Yesterday I got to spend some awesome time with my family. I went through the temple and all my siblings got to be there and my parents and John. It was pretty special and I think it was awesome for my mom and dad. We went to dinner at Los Hermanos and let me tell you, they weren't that good last night...or maybe it was just because I was starving and I get cranky when I'm hungry. Anyway...good times. My brothers are pretty funny and I love that John gets along with my family. Sometimes I wonder what it'll actually be like when we're married into each others families, because I tend to be more outspoken when I know people better or when I don't care and I think maybe once we're married....there may come a point when both of us don't care as much as we do now. Sorry to all families involved. ;)

Well...since I didn't catch time while it was flying, I'm amazed at how it is catching me. The wedding is in less than 2 weeks and I still have a few things to do (kinda important things). And sadly, I'm so tired and ready to have the wedding done with, it doesn't make me very motivated to get those few things done. Oh well....some people may just hate me...for simply being me at my own wedding....shocker there. :)

Eyelashes

Surprising how much I'm blogging during the summer. More than I thought I would, but being sick has made me pretty much a recluse. Funny thing happened this morning, something that hadn't happen since freshman year of college. I was kind of in a hurry to get to my parents, cause I have no hot water and John was going to be done with his final soon. I was putting on some mascara and I realized, my lashes looked funky, so I pulled out my eyelash curler. When you're not paying attention or tired, this can be a fiasco!! And this morning, I wasn't. I'm not used to my new bathroom setup yet and my arm was resting on a wall outlet (a big fat box kind). Next thing I know my hand is in the sink and my left eye is watering itself alot, sending streams of fresh black paint down my face. "OWWWW!!!!" There on the curler was about half of my eyelashes. Smooth move. Now my eyes look really funky. :) Let's just hope they grow back fast before the wedding

The end!

Guys have it Easy!

So with 2.5 weeks to the wedding, we thought we should get John's tux, our ties and finish with the skirts for the ladies and my nieces. So, John having never gotten a tux, we went to a store in the mall. We were just looking and guess what....in 10 mins, he'd picked it out, got measured, tried on the jacket, put down a 20$ deposit and we were done. HOW?!?!? So not fair. I looked at dresses at 5 places before I found something that fit perfectly everywhere and in length, that wasn't hideous to me and and I had to pay a 100 dollar deposit. Jeez!
We did get some awesome ties, so super cute dresses for my nieces and 2 adorable onesies for my nephew to be born this week! We got to design the ties to be embroidered on them and they are going to rock! So, pretty much we're done with everything and that is nice. All my stuff is moved to my condo (although it's all in boxes) and my family arrived in town yesterday from Uruguay. They met John and I think they like him, how could they not? He's pretty funny and easy going and well, my family trusts my judgement. And my nieces love that he's tall. The first thing Emma asked me was "Where's John?" 2 years and she'd rather see John than me. :) lol

Guys have it so easy.....so I'm glad that I at least get to marry one that is easy going. :)

Moving On

I hate moving. With a strong passion, I detest packing, moving stuff, cleaning stuff up and then unpacking it again and trying to figure out where to put it. Ya know what makes it worse? I don't have all the organizational stuff yet. We don't really know what we're going to get for our wedding, so we don't want to buy anything yet, so I get to live with some boxes for the next 2.5 weeks in our new condo. I wish I could be moving straight in with John, then it would seem more like our place. Well, I should be packing some more....so I'm off to spend my last night in the Campbell house packing stuff up and cleaning......all the while exhausted from the past four days of driving to Eagle Mountain for summer school. :( 50 mins is not worth the drive!!!

Driver's License Please

When you get a letter in the mail in April telling you to renew your drivers license by your birthday, do it!! Even if you're getting married in a month from your birthday and have to change your name, DO IT!!

Today after other mishaps, we finally went to close on our condo. We were like pros, John and I signing our names at the same time like there was nothing to it. After about 50 papers (no joke!!) we were done!! Lisa our Escrow Officer says "OK, I just need a current license and another form of ID." (Do you see where this is going?) We pull out our stuff and I then remember......"uh, my drivers licence expired 2 days ago on my birthday." I think Lisa and Wyatt's face both dropped (who would actually drive without a current license?) John couldn't stop laughing. Had they informed me we had to have it....I would have done it!! Turns out that without a current expiration, they couldn't get everything in. So, we first drive down to the UCCU to get money wired, I'm positive that when she asked to see my license, John about wet himself. He's going to have fun with this one. Next to the DLB (where luckily my friend Shelly works, so it was a little bit faster) and an HOUR or more later, I had a temporary 6 months license, which I then take back to AF. It was quite the eventful day, but we did get it done and we did close on our condo.
All I can say is "someday we'll laugh at this" and oh, when people tell you to just wait a month to get something renewed cause you're getting married...don't listen....cause you never know when you'll actually need it!!

LATE NIGHT TRASH SOCCER

Last night I had a new adventure, trash soccer. Last weekend my 3 roommates moved out, leaving an enormous amount of trash to be thrown out. When I came home last night to put out the garbage, there were 2 bean bags and 7 bags of trash on the ground amongst the already overflowing bin!!! This is where the genius idea came in.........ECONOMIZING TRASH....using the neighborhood trash cans.
So, I made a game out of it, see how much we could fit into each neighbors bin. John was kicking the bean bags like soccer balls and I was running around trying to steal them. We're pretty lame and I'm sure the neighbors heard us, but it was fun. Unfortunately I could only get 2 in one neighbors can, 1 more in mine, but I successfully ran down the street and put 3 in one can! As I was on the move to get another bag, John was still trying to kick the bean bag high enough to make it into the trash can. It took him several tries. I was definitely winning...John was too busy with the bean bag!! Last time...I grabbed the biggest black trash bag and went....watching John try to kick the other bean bag. Needless to say, my well planned out method got all the trash into trash cans and within a timely manner. (John is still kicking the bag). We had to go to another trash can for this and John....being such a great player....kicked the bean bag and knocked over the garbage can...........well, maybe just half, but it was loud and the bean bag got stuck on the lid.

So, if you ever get bored...try trash soccer...just make sure your neighbors are asleep...I think the family on the corner was watching us shove stuff in and I almost felt like I was getting caught!! Good thing I was laughing to hard at John to care. GOOD TIMES WITH TRASH!!!

SCHOOL IS OUT!!!

YAY!!! School is finally out! I don't think I could be more happy.....except if the wedding were completely planned and I was already married. ;) Kindergarten graduation went great yesterday(aren't they cute?!?.....with only one little kid dancing through the whole entire program (it should be on America's funniest home videos). Today we signed autographs, played at the park, had ice cream and were done. Needless to say it all went smoothly....except for the end, when I was running around the school looking for the infamous Isabella's. Expect those 2 girls to give us our last heartache in the last 5 minutes, on the last day of school!!!
Golden Corral has been slightly redeemed...(since I haven't thrown up yet) and that's where we had our fun but sad luncheon as we lose our principal and some great teachers. Because Monday was a holiday, we decided to step back into GAME MODE and have a game night! It had been months and was totally worth it! So, we were all up until well after 2 am playing games and catching up. I was so tired, since I'd been up until 3 the night before, that I just wanted to get home. John took me home and we had some games and cupcakes, so he was helping me bring them in.....or so I thought. As I reached to get my keys, John realized he hadn't put them in my bag. After checking every door, I realized I was completely locked out and my roommates did not answer. So....after ten minutes, I found a window on the ground level and broke into my house. I'm pretty sure making John climb down into the window, over the ironing board and onto the desk, and around the junk was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. (John is not a little person like me). So, I'm holding the blinds about to wet my pants when John gets his foot stuck outside, while half of him is in....not as flexible as he wanted to be. Well, I pushed his foot in and we did get in and just in the nick of time.....2 minutes after we got in and went to open the front door.....it started to pour rain! I'm just glad that we didn't get caught, my neighbors are pretty aware of the happenings going on and we were not being quiet. LESSON LEARNED:double check for keys when your fiance gives you your purse and have a hide a key. :)

Field Day??

Today was field day.....well it was supposed to be. For the first time in years, it was rainy on field day. I was actually quite overjoyed. The upper grades still got to play outside and I had the easiest day of the school year ever!! We practiced for graduation, ate lunch in the hall outside our room (so fun!) and then watched "Meet the Robinson's" in the Gym with the 4-6 kids. I cut out laminate and texted my future sis-in-law to be. What an easy day!! And also I realized, that some people are very messed up and I'm glad that with all the things I've experienced over the last 5 years, that I'm about to embark on the best thing of all, marrying John. He's the best thing ever and I'm so lucky to have him!
Te Amo Joaoninho!

DESSERTS

AHHHHHHH!!!! That right there was stress!! So I titled my post as DESSERTS because I've been sneaking some of those lately....because desserts spelled backwards is STRESSED and that I definitely am! I can't believe how much stress I'm currently feeling. I mean, I usually handle it pretty well and I don't have major freak outs, but I'm getting to that point. I hate that school is requiring a thousand million things with grading, my portfolio has to be revamped, my students are basically prisoners now at exit time, my ESL class is starting over again with a 5 hour power session tonight, we have to get everything done to close on the condo and I officially want to cancel my wedding....just so I can avoid the pressure from everyone!! I mean, I'm doing the best I can, but there is only so much I can do in a day!!

AHHHHH, all I can say is I better gain something from this stress. Like yummy treats and then massive amounts of weight loss when I go to strict liquids. On the plus side, I do absolutely love the rainy weather.....except it makes me want to curl up and read.....which I can't do. :( Oh well...life will go on, with lots of chocolate and peanut butter. :)

ADDENDUM
Ok, so I feel I need to make an addendum to this post. When my fiance John commented about it, (although jokingly, I knew others might not see it that way) I read it again and realized how it sounded. It sounded like I didn't want to get married. On the contrary, I very much want to get married to John, I just don't want to have a wedding and stuff involved with that. I think I'd be content to just elope to the temple and have a marriage.....yeah.....I should have really considered that. Maybe I'll encourage my children to do that.

So, to John: I love you and I don't see what anyone can see in anyone else but you. I'm very, very, much excited to marry you and I wish it would happen sooner. And for both of our sakes.....the stress should decrease ten fold, because maybe in the end, it won't all be worth it. I love you John! Meu Amor! Te Amo!

LIFE!!

Do you ever wonder who reads your blog, who sees your pics, who is really out there knowing what you do? I did the other day. I know the people that leave comments probably read my blog, my family (for the most part) and my friends (who wanted the engagement story). I don't know if random strangers happen upon it and that made me wonder. Guess I should make it private....by invite only.

So, for normality, life is really great. School is almost out (2 weeks!!!) and I am completely thrilled at that thought. It was a tough year with the OEK Class, a student teacher, the horror student and planning a wedding. I loved it, but I'm ready for a break! On Saturday, John and I made an offer on a condo and they accepted!! YAY!! So, I'll be moving in June and my brother found someone to rent the house! I saw some old friends from Papa John's and I realized, that was a great time in my life and sometimes I miss it. It's amazing how work or moving to college can create such fond memories with people, especially ones you never thought you'd ever get along with! I was able to spend more time with my fiance and "everyday is the new best day of my life." lol (he'll laugh at that lyrical cheesiness!!) But really, I am excited to get married to John and to be apart of his family and he be apart of mine. This week has helped me learn a lot about my past and a lot about my future!

Life is fantastic and that's about it. Nothing funny this blog....well....not to anyone but me.

School Lunch Anyone?

Today, I forgot my lunch. That was a little bit funny and I don't do it very often. So I figured I'd just hurry and grab school lunch when some of my kids went down. I looked on the menu; Burritos or Subs. Well, since my lunch is usually a burrito (seriously, everyday) I decided to get a sub sandwich. I ran down to the lunchroom and got in line behind one of my girls. I tell the lady my name, grab 2 chocolate milks (they are the best!!! and teachers always get 2) and wait in line. I'm chatting with some other students of mine and I get up to the counter. "I'd like the sandwich today please." The lunch lady says "Sorry, we're out, that was the last one."

"NOOOOOOOO!!!!! " I was crushed!! I ran over to Yadira (my student) and said..".give me your sandwich and you can have this burrito!" Kids always do what there teacher tells them, right? To no avail, I was stuck with the burrito. (and really, I didn't run over to her, I just thought that) But I almost yelled it out. That's ridiculous! I just paid $2.5o for the same thing I eat everyday for like .40 cents. I felt disgusted that I had to eat another burrito (that wasn't good) and there was no ranch for my fresh broccoli. What a sad day?!?! ....2.50 for one .25 cent cookie and two .25 cent milks and a disgusting burrito that I didn't even eat all of. 2.50!?!?! I won't be forgetting my lunch anymore.....but yum....that chocolate milk was good.

Growing Up!

So I was thinking a lot this week. I'm so excited to get married and move to the next stage of my life, but I sure hate growing up more. Now that it's official, it makes all the plans more official! That means finding the perfect place to live, the right wedding dress, the right photographer, changing the insurance, compiling addresses, budgeting for more than myself, going back to school (ie with John), finishing up my classes (more homework and final projects), finding things for the new place we actually get, getting good engagement pictures (we have the worst luck!!) and being even more responsible than I already have been my whole life! BUT YAY, MY RING FITS NOW!!!! I'm to the point, that I don't even feel like I can breathe.....yet here I am blogging....in the 5 minutes I have while my students are cleaning up and getting ready to go home. Yeah....I know I will extremely happy when I can go back to actually seeing my fiance (who'll be my husband by then) and talking about life.....rather than "plans" and "schedules" we have to accomplish. Ah....the joys of becoming a real adult....rather than just an adult who has a real job. Oh geez...life is grand.

IT'S OFFICIAL, I'M TAKEN!!!!! HERE IS THE FIRST PICTURE RIGHT AFTER HE PROPOSED. (I WAS REALLY SICK THIS WEEKEND, HENCE THE PJ'S & BLANKET). THAT IS THE COUCH WE WANT TO STEAL FROM MY BROTHER THAT INVOLVED MANY PARTS OF OUR RELATIONSHIP. HAHA! GOTTA LOVE IT!!
Here is John later, after he'd already proposed demonstrating what he was going to do. WAA-AAAHHH! I was laughing so hard. I stinking love the ring, it's perfect. His good friend Jon was disappointed in him for not actually doing it when he proposed in the first place. I would have been fine either way. :)
Here is a picture of the ring on my hand, holding John's hand. Yeah....he has a big thumb. It's also very hard to get any good pics of the ring. It's really cool when you look at it from the side in real life. Good Job John! 100% exactly what I wanted.
John loves making silly faces. We're calling some family to tell them we're officially engaged! It was pretty late, so some people didn't get phone calls about it. lol. Also, I specified no flowers or anything like that, so it was super simple. Just like I wanted the ring to be!
The picture below is right after he proposed as well. Remember how I was super sick that weekend. Don't I look it? I was totally in my pajamas and everything, wrapped up in a blanket. It was honestly the greatest part of the story.....which will come later.John telling his one and only brother Scott that we're getting married. John had to tell him first, because when Scott proposed to his wife last fall, John was in the car before hand, so he was the first to know. Just returning the brotherly love. He's stinking adorable!! I love him!!
So, after a very long wait, I'm very excited to be engaged. The wedding is July 2nd and I can't even begin to express how excited I am. I love John and spending a little amount of time with him everyday is not enough, especially with our opposite work schedules. Anyway, now to curb the curiousness of everyone. John and I decided that what is cheesy to some people, may not be cheesy to others, so I'm going to be very limited in my proposal story.

THE PROPOSAL STORY

John came over and sneakily went to the basement to hide the ring. He told me he was trying to find a movie and I was sort of suspicious, because I was positive I'd returned the movie. After about an hour of looking at houses online, we decided it was time to read our scriptures before he went home. It was of course hot in my house, so I suggested we go downstairs (which is what he wanted). Our basement smells, so we have like 10 candles down there and we always light them when we go down, so John lit them and sat on the couch. We started talking and he pulled out his scriptures. We talked for a minute before we were going read and then he stood up to give me a hug (which I though was strange too, since we were both sitting on the couch already and he's super tall). Needless to say, after the hug, he got down on his knee and pulled out the hidden ring from under the pillows. I believe my exact words were "you punk, I knew you were up to something, I can't believe you." He asked, I said of course and the rest is history. I didn't even cry!! I was so proud of myself! We had some Banana Nilla Parfaits to celebrate and went to my parents to hear a story about my grandma's ring and show mine off to my family. Oh and the ring hasn't been sized, so it's really big, which has made for some funny pictures and stories.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://megaliciouslyshort.blogspot.com/2008/05/its-official-im-taken-i-am-engaged.html' title='IT'S OFFICIAL, I'M TAKEN!!!!! I was watching my kids after snack the other day, just waiting for the a couple of stragglers, when I noticed them forming partners and groups to play Rock, Paper, Scissors. Who knew that all my 5 year old kids new this game? I have no idea where they learned it, but they sure do have it down. Not only that.....they've invented like 5 different versions! Lava, Fire, Bomb, Spiderman and MOVE?---apparently when you hold both fists up-it's called a move and it blocks everything. It made me laugh so hard watching them play. Ahh....the days of childhood.

On another note, I went to my first Soccer game Saturday night. I had gotten John some Real Salt Lake tickets for his birthday, so we went to the game last night. It was way fun, despite the fact I was pretty sick and pretty grumpy before it started. But sometimes that happens when you're sick, stressed and stuff. Needless to say, I had a blast. I really like Soccer. It's not as long and boring as other sports are. For reals. It was fun to see the LA Galaxy team and to be sitting so close to the field. I saw David Beckham and Landon Donovan play and they are good. Although LA doesn't have a very good defense. So, the game score came out tied. 2-2...but only because RSL let Beckham get 2 shots. Oh well, it was a spectacular game and I had so much fun! I also love spending time with John doing things he enjoys and soccer is definitely a passion of his. So, I'm now a bigger soccer fan than I used to be and I'm ok with that. I really do like it. I've also been watching more of the Jazz games lately.....whether it's because my obsessed brother rants about them all the time or because by the time John gets off work, we're too tired to do anything besides watch the games....I don't know, but I'm excited to watch the Jazz take on the Lakers in Round 2.

Blah Days.

So, I hate being sick! And I'm sick! The worst part is #1-I didn't get to go to Jump On It with the ward. The first activity I think I've missed since I moved here and I really wanted to go. #2-I feel so yucky and I can't really fix it. #3-I'm super tired and I have soooooooo much to do that I can't just go to bed. #4-I'm not as patient with my students and today, I seriously wanted to remove a few of the overly annoying ones. (Especially the birthday girl screaming "it's my birthday, I sang to myself, now where's my pink crown!?!" Really....she was yelling that at me!!)

On another note, the BOGO shoe sale struck again. I dropped off my car at Lube Doc to get it all inspected and emissioned (not a word) and they said to come back by 6. Well, it was only like 4:30! What am I supposed to do....not going to Shopko (Payless) would have been the smart choice! But, I did and I came out of there with 2 new pairs of shoes and some socks. Dang those BOGO prices!! So, all in all.....my car is newly registered, my left blinker light is fixed (apparently it was out) and I have 2 pairs of new shows to drown my sickness sorrows in.

Sundays

I love Sundays, even though it means the weekend is almost over, it also means that I can spend the day relaxing. I realized today that I have been to church in my own ward since March!! That is crazy! I mean, we had General Conference, then I went to a baby blessing in Colorado and then I went to church in Las Vegas (where the kids tripled the amount of adults). So, I'm actually rather excited to get back to my own ward.

Another great thing about Sundays is family dinner. I realized, I hate it when we don't have family dinner. Whether it is with my family or John's family. There's something that just ties Sundays together by having dinner with your family. So, I'm excited for Stephanie's Lasagna tonight! This weekend has been full of business. Pictures, shows and house hunting.....I'm starting to hate that. But, Aaron and Emily are moving back for a month and I do not want to live here with their 5 kids! YIKES!! I love my nieces and nephews, but I already spend all day with 50 little kids, so I'd like to come home to some semi-quietness. :) Yeah.....that's why I like Sundays. Peace and Quiet!

Aha Moments and Borderline Insanity

So, I'm sitting here in class, watching the high school students work with my Kindergarten class and I'm thinking "I'm going to go crazy!" I love my class and I love teaching, but something about the last month of school makes the kids go nuts! It was all I could do to keep my mouth from screaming out loud!

So the project they were working on was a card for our principal and a story about their fieldtrip, something they have done everyday since the first day of school. They know the writing process and they know where to get the words they are looking for, plus they have a whole bunch of high school students and myself helping them. BUT, for the life of me, only 8 were writing without coming up to me every five seconds asking me how to spell words they know! AHHHHH!!! I must just be tired, but they were driving me nuts! I think they were even driving each other nuts. Various little voices throughout the room were saying "Stretch your words! Look on the word wall! It's P-I-G-pig! Go back and reread it!" After hearing all these little voices, I just started laughing. They were using phrases that I had taught them during Writers Workshop the whole year. So, now I'm thinking, they are driving me crazy, but hey, they actually get it. 8 months of repetition and they are repeating it to each other!

That right there, takes the craziness back into perspective. They drive me crazy at times, but they are only 5 and in the end, I know they are learning something and that is what makes my job so worthwhile, even in they are driving me crazy!!

Word Spreads Fast

Did you ever wonder how people find things out so fast? I mean we all know about gossip right, but what if you never said anything to begin with? I found myself in a strange predicament at school today. I had at least 5 people congratulate me on my engagement. WHAT ENGAGEMENT?!?! That's about all I could say in my head. Does it look like I have a ring on my finger? Well, I do, but an engagement ring....no. I have a CTR ring....I'm engaged to righteousness. I mean, seriously, if I were engaged....don't you think I'd tell everyone I know!! HECK YES I WOULD!!! Getting engaged and married is one of the most exciting things in a person's life....trust me....it won't be a secret.

I've decided you should never let anyone know you've thought about or talked about marriage because that automatically makes them think you're getting married. Hypothetically is different than actually doing it. On an actual note, Becky did make me try on wedding dresses on Tuesday and picked out my "hypothetical" wedding dress. lol. I can't believe I consented to that. On another actual note, someone I know put down a deposit today and hypothetically, I'm wondering how long it's going to be. It's all so tentative, that is deserves to be hypothetical! Ahh.....the craziness of life! Gotta love it!

Vegas and Mysteries Revealed

Well, I posted when I got home from Colorado and I figure, I need to post again. I just got home from Vegas (so fun!) and am now counting down the days until summer!! I love my kids, but dang, I'm excited for summer. My family is finally coming home for a visit and I can't wait to see my nieces and nephews! They've gotten so stinking big!!

So, after reading comment and e-mails, I guess I better clarify a little bit. In many pictures, you have all comment on a certain boy, who I went to Colorado and Vegas with. That is John Carter my boyfriend and we've been dating since December. Hypothetically, if anything happens, it won't be a secret. John is pretty dang awesome and we have tons of fun together. For those of you who went to Mountain View....you might know him or his sister Diana Carter. John is pretty spectacular and we make a pretty awesome team.

So, Vegas was a fun trip, less driving than Colorado and more time with John, Sam and Diana. We had a fun time dressing up one night to go out and I got some pretty great pictures of our randomness. If only I could have gotten one of "Key-key 2468." I got to see The Phantom of the Opera at the Venetian, (Amazing!) spend time with John's family, (2 cute nieces) sit in a ginormous rocking chair, (in Beaver) go swimming where the weather was actually warm,(it was not warm in my shorts when I returned Sunday night!) see some awesome celebrities, (wax of course) go to the Vegas Temple, (baptisms, it's been forever!!) watch the Bellagio fountains (beautiful!) and just enjoy being with friends. Although it was very tiring, it was very fun and I wish I didn't have to be back at work yet! I do have to say, John's niece Megan (the best name ever!) was the cutest. She was quite confused at first that there was a "other Megan" coming to visit. One day when Diana and I were asking her about her babies, she just kept saying "Callie and Whitney, they have hair and they have my cabbage patch doll!!!" You had to be there, but every time she'd scream "THEY HAVE MY CABBAGE PATCH DOLL!" Kids are funny, all kids...including my students.

My Kindergarteners are crazy little tikes and I love them to death. As much as they sometimes drive me crazy, they make me laugh so much! I mean, how many times can you explain "I don't have children, because I'm not married." I guess it doesn't make sense, but they ask me that all the time. They also just say "Well, you have a boyfriend, have some kids now." And I have this one little guy....everything I say....he has 5 questions for and then the same response. "That's wonderful Miss Campbell, you're just delicious!" I mean, what 5 year old tells a person they are delicious! haha!! Gotta love it!

Spontaneity Delivers

Ok, so on a random note, I ended up going to Colorado this weekend with John. His niece was getting blessed and he had the weekend off, so we decided to go with Sam and Diana. This proved to be spontaneous enough to John that he now decided I can handle some spontaneity. The trip was pretty dang fun and John's family is hysterical. The picture of the Vail pass was taken really early in the morning and was pretty dang beautiful.

So, a few select highlights. #1-A car with 2 Carters always produces loud singing. #2-It might also produce sounds like a train at noises so loud, you can't even here the train. #3-Canyons close with snow and Rifle Colorado has some weird hotels and houses with hard wood floors. #4-Pineapple might make you have to go to the bathroom if you eat too much. #5-Talking about marriage is apparently the same as actually getting engaged. #6-No Name is actually a rest area that has no name. #7-A 4 year old girl can actually sing vibrato and be scared of vultures. #8-Lack of sleep can produce abnormal behavior. #9-"Hypothetically" can be overused. #10-Newsies can never be sung loud enough. #11-Everyone poops and everyone farts, so just accept it and move on. #12-Spending time with people you enjoy being around.....priceless.

So, needless to say, I had a great time in Colorado and am looking forward to going to Vegas on Wednesday, where needless to say, more exciting and random adventures will ensue with the Carter family!

I Converted!!

I can't believe that I've succumbed to this.
